Folks, times change. The idea that Captain Buzzys should be held to a deal made nine years ago, without review and opportunity to make upgrades, is absurd. Im thoroughly exhausted with the overwhelming growth of apartment complex after complex, without proper support of the local businesses that will keep people spending money in their neighborhoods. Im not certain if people are scared of change and growth, or if they are just stubborn and unwilling to embrace it. Perhaps theyve forgotten that cities grow and adapt to the population that inhabits them, and this is nothing but growing pains. Or, maybe they really dont want a certain kind of person patronizing their neighborhood. Despite this unfortunate halt in a productive business, I do hope that the people of Church Hill most against this movement forward will begin to consider the future of their neighborhood and what it could be. Especially for those of my generation who are looking for the neighborhood they intend to call home. In the meantime, Im grateful to live in a neighborhood that embraces growth and encourages it. It has been a pleasure to watch it grow around me, and support it. For my Millennials out there, join us in Manchester...a place Im proud to call home. #RVA #citycouncil
