Folks who have Time Warner for internet service and use a modem provided by TW years ago. - check your bill! You are being billed $5.99 lease for the modem that you maybe thought was free when you first signed up for their service years ago. As of March 2014, they started including a $5.99 monthly lease fee for your modem on your bill. This does not increase your overall bill. They claim they have always charged you this monthly lease on the modem. Its just that now theyve broken it out as a separate line charge. I dont open my bills often, but I just discovered this. Over the last 9 years Ive been a TW customer, its turned out Ive paid nearly $650 for a modem that costs about $60. You can understand why they didnt include the equipment lease charge on your bill. People would catch onto it and go buy themselves their own modem. Which is what Im doing today and you should do as well. Im calling the NC Attorney Generals Office tomorrow and see if the practice raises any eyebrows there.
