Follow the Lords rules for doing his work, just as an athlete either follows the rules or is disqualified and wins no prize... Think about what I am saying. The Lord will give you understanding in all these things (2 Timothy 2:5, 7). The athlete is disciplined and keeps the rules of the game. Serious athletics involves strict discipline and training. While other people are eating potato chips watching movies, the athlete is training. Theyre tired and even hurt, they continue to train and stay on course because they have their eyes on the goal, they are running to win! Look at what the Word has to say about the race that youre running: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish (Hebrews 12:1-2). Lets apply this personally: What do you need to lay aside that slows you down in you the race youre running?
