The other option is a Greater Israel where we lose our identity as a Jewish and as a democratic state. This decision must be made for our reasons and not for Palestinian reasons. Settlements are damaging economically and morally. The Israeli consensus, lets have a referendum, to ask the people what do they want. Without this referendum we see the growth of settlements. The settlements, she claimed, do not provide security. They are the consumers of security. The settlements to not add to our legitimacy. They damage legitimacy. Annexation will lead to isolation and I (Livni) will not be part of it.I am patriotic but I want to promote the 2 state solution so that Israel remains a Jewish democratic state. As long as I am Minister of Justice I will not allow such an annexation law to pass. I will head a democratic coalition in Israel. Unfortunately, Abu Mazen did not pursue the talks to the end. Hamas is an Islamic terror organization. We must distinguish between the new Palestinian government and our fight against the Hamas terror. Hamas has nothing to do with the PLO. Terrorism has nothing to do with democracy. We should work with this new government and make sure they live up to their commitments.
