Following a late withdrawal CFC Academy 04s arranged a friendly against CFC Olympic O2s Both teams started well with the young academy side taking the game to their older counterparts. Well used to the smaller pitch and 7 aside it was no surprise when Lewis Toshs sweet left foot put them 1 up.Lots of good passing and chances were cheered on by a sizeable crowd of parents. Strong running by Dan Brown was causing the academy problems but resolute defending from Reece Watton and Peter Nevin blunted Olympic attacks by Campbell McFaull and Oisin Doherty. The now usual high standard goalkeeping display by Jake Speers was eventually breached when Dan Brown struck a sweet right foot shot to level the scores just before half time. The usual half-time drinks and team talks saw the 04s start on fire Bobby Millars tireless running and Rafferty McKays quick feet were troubling the 02s but great defending any both Lennon McKeeman and Scott Wilson kept the scores level. In the space of 2 minutes the younger 04s found themselves 3~1 ahead. The first following a corner debutant Ross Irwin calmly slotted into the bottom corner and then David Huffingtons cross shot found its way into the bottom corner. Rather than feel sorry for themselves the stronger 02s started controlling the game with James Waters and Oisin Doherty to the fore. Some good closing down and passing resulted in Adam McClure firing low into the net for 3-2 before Dan Brown got his second, this time with his trusty left to level the scores. Some fine football on show from both teams and at the final whistle a draw was a fair result.
