Following countries still execute (6 of them have moratorium). Afghanistan, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Belarus, Botswana, China, Cuba, Egypt, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, North Korea, South Korea, Lebanon, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Syria, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tonga, United Arab Emirates, United States, Vietnam, and Yemen. As I mentioned in my previous posting I may list some techniques used to punish the condemned, I am realizing it is not necessary to go into the details. Addressing this issue is difficult. I by no means want to cross the line between a hidden sadism & human values. All I wish, we have some international organization which is proactive to stop the atrocities before they begin; & not go after the tragedies, & document them. Although deep in my mind I know it is a childish wish. The reason I am saying this, because I have read some well renowned legal scholars (what to talk of an average Joe on the street) advocating the policy of torture, they are justifying it by saying, it is necessary to save the lives of the innocent citizens. But I see that as a slippery slope, because how do we know in advance the person is a real culprit? As an American I know our constitution has well defined parameters of Executive, Judiciary, and Legislative branches. Our founding fathers did it for a reason; if someone today wants to impose their own personal will, then they have to bring an amendment. Until that happens I will request my fellow Americans to go & read the Constitution & the Bill of Rights. That has serves us well for +200 years. Enough said.
