Following her time at Wooster, 2006 graduate Emma (Hayes) Nickel - TopicsExpress

Following her time at Wooster, 2006 graduate Emma (Hayes) Nickel spent six months serving as a mission volunteer for the Presbyterian Church in Mulanje, Malawi where she taught primary school. Upon returning home, Emma enrolled at Princeton Theological Seminary and earned a Master of Divinity degree in 2010. She then was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2010 and served as pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Warren, Michigan from 2010-2013! Emma points out that although she is not working in a career traditionally related to Womens Studies, her training in the disciplines is evident in her work and life—her studies inform how she thinks about theology and how she leads the people in service and ministry to the wider world. Emma notes, “Learning to use the wisdom of Womens Studies in a non-academic setting has been a gift.”
