Following my post on rolling patterns.. I mentioned from watching this video there was some things I wanted to check out. You will notice in the video as I complete the lower extremity driven pattern prone to supine, my fingers/wrist flex as my opposite glute switches on to initiate the pattern. Just did some NKT testing and sure enough we found my forearm flexors were working hard, and inhibiting my posterior oblique sling, and abdominal obliques.. So my Right forearm flexors were facilitated, inhibiting my R Latissimus dorsi, L Glute Max, R internal oblique, L external oblique. This is likely due to the fact that I use my hands a lot! Wrist flexion when massaging, playing guitar, computer use, swinging spanners, driving my old non-power steering four wheel drive. Using NKT it was possible to teach my brain to let my forearm flexors relax, and let the other muscles within the pattern do their job. For homework I might do some forearm flexor stretching followed by some rolling patterns, or bird dog. The little things make big things!
