Following on from our successful application for evening opening - TopicsExpress

Following on from our successful application for evening opening weve been keeping an eye on subsequent approvals to determine if the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPS) impose similar conditions to those imposed upon us elsewhere. Weve already checked all previous ones online and, guess what? They havent in the past. So what about later approvals? Well heres one example, given permission on 28 August.. A chip shop opening in Pooley Bridge, without internal or outside seating, nor any dedicated parking. There are homes to the side of it and over the road, and they are closer to this business than our neighbours are to us. It is fair to say that customers will come and go with more frequency than our cafe customers (who will stay longer) and that many will end up eating in the street, perhaps after being for a few pints, and sit on the public seats within earshot of homes. So, and excluding the usual extract system requirements, what conditions has the LDNPA set to protect local residents and ensure the coming and going of customers isnt a disturbance? A) They need to supply a waste bin! Thats it. Nothing else. No opening hour restrictions, no management plan in place to ask people to be quiet when leaving, no signage, no exclusion from customers using the public seating until late in the evening... You can see the building here, its the one with the white door and green windows (it just looks like a terraced home). To the left is the Post Office and we presume homes are above that and to the left. Turn the street view around 180 degrees and you will see another home. We wish the best of luck with the owners but we do wonder why there is such a marked difference in our treatment. It cannot be because there was a massive public outcry against our plan. There was only 6 emails against and many more in favour. The Officers report and Decision Notice can be found here goo.gl/G3yTuK Well be keeping an eye on the LDNPAs weekly approvals. goo.gl/in9zql
