Following the conduct of a crisis free senatorial elections by the National Election Commission,it was believed that Liberias democracy was been strengthened thus serving as a good harbinger for the 2017 general and Presidential Elections. But that could be undermined by the judiciary with Supreme Court ignoring the existence of electoral laws and probing into allegations of fraud. In the first place, the National Elections Commission had said that its adjudicatory body had not come up with any ruling on the matter.This means there is no basis for Foday Kromah and others running to the Supreme Court placing stay order on the certification of senators elect: Cllr. Varney Sherman, James Tornola and Moris Satumah . These Supreme Legal Bodies such as Arbitration Court and Supreme Court are final legal redress expanses; when one is not satisfy with ruling from lower judicious bodies, they are the final bet. Scenario When Liberia took an appeal to the court of Arbitration for Sports after CAF handed a suspension verdict against its football President Musa Hassan A. Bility, the court decided to trash the appeal on basis that Liberia did not exhaust the legal channels at CAF.The Supreme Court should not make one to believe that you can disrespect laws binding institution or organization. We dont want to be reminded of the dark days when the Judiciary was used as a major tool to create political instability. I am not insinuating that the courts action is been politically motivated but it has serious political ramifications. I understand the court had begun hearing into the matter assuring that the case will be held in phases. Todays hearing was on Why the candidates should not be certificated? This might be prolonged leading to the deprivation of these candidates rights to champion their constituencies say in the senates leadership. I foresee serious tension in the coming days and the highest court in the land should not be instigator of such political tension.
