Following the heinous attack by the Taliban on a school in Peshawar, there is likely to be a high incidence of anxiety, depression and PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) amongst the surviving children and grieving families. Meanwhile there are only 21 psychiatrists licensed to provide services to a nation of more than 180 million people so clearly there is going to be an acute shortage of access to mental health services...unless we do something about it... So this is a call out to all mental health counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, etc. - Naya Jeevan is coordinating a Mental Health action plan and will cover your travel expenses to Peshawar to provide both acute and ongoing psychiatric services to child survivors and grieving families. Everyone else - please spread this message as wide as possible so that we can mobilise a recovery and rehabilitation team quickly. RISE ABOVE!
