Following the report of a shooting in the neighborhood near Midland Freshman High School (the shooting is not related with the school), 100 E. Gist Ave., the school has been placed in lockdown as a precaution. In a lockdown situation, individuals are not allowed to enter or exit a campus until the order lifts. Midland Police Department and MISD Police Department officials are on hand. MISD Superintendent Dr. Ryder Warren said, “We’re not releasing students until the situation is resolved. We’re asking parents not to pick up their children at this time, and are asking area schools to hold their walking students.” Dr. Warren will provide an update as the situation progresses.
