Following the tightening of security measures by American authorities at US airports, airlines are advising customers to allow for extra time when checking in for flights to the United States. Passengers are advised to ensure their electronic devices are on and charged, or risk being denied boarding. Air France has advised passengers departing from Charles de Gaulle to keep their battery chargers in their cabin luggage as electronic equipment can be charged in boarding lounges before flights. AF is also advising passengers to check-in online via the airfrance website to avoid delays. Emirates and Delta have released similar statements. “We encourage customers to allow extra time at select airports in Europe, the Middle East and Africa to account for additional screening requirements and to charge their electronic devices prior to arrival at security checkpoints,” Delta said in a statement. At present, Lufthansa does not expect this to have any impact on its flight operations nor does it anticipate any delays as a result. Check-in and security checks are operating as normal.
