Fomented Fears, Reigning Yarn Modi may not become the best prime minister India or the BJP has had just as Nehru was not the greatest for the country or from his party (the jury is still out on Nehru if history is acknowledged as a perpetually contested territory). But where do we go from here where UPA One and UPA Two has dumped us? The Godhra nemesis is a footnote to history (contested territory, remember) so will be Gujarat 2000. History is our fear, rarely inspiration. Fomented fear is staple for confused nationalists and forlorn careerists. Sitaram Yechury, when he harks back, is misreading the mood of the nation while Nitish is giddy atop his tower of secularism and assorted superstitions. Yes, a nation can get spooked and India was, not just recently but in the less recent past too. But it regains clear sight and sense after dissimulators have exhausted their yarn. Beware of fomented fears and heaps of reigning yarn.
