Food For Thought..e stuff your mind... youtu.be/n39wnf7DRw4 Vestapol Tuning aka Open E: EBEG#BE is simply like playing in Standard Tuning: EADGBE and holding down an E chord: E(BEG#)BE. The notes being held down form an E Major Triad in this order: 513. The numbers are from the 8 notes (Octave) found in an E Major Scale that are required to form an E Major Chord. 1E 2F# 3G# 4A 5B 6C# 7D# 8E An Important Note: The 12 Keys of music are relative. As long as you use the same note relationships across all the strings (musical distance between notes is called an interval), all the note finger locations on the fingerboard will be exactly the same. Except of course, the guitar will sound in another key of music. For Example: In this video, we are both in Vestapol Tuning: 151351, but tuned down to the Key of C: CGCEGC. This is easier on our old vintage guitar necks and lower is easier on my pipes for singing too. In regard to playing Cigar Box Guitar and gaining a working knowledge of chord building, (that can be applied easily, freeing yourself from chord charts), 513 Tuning in the Key of D: ADF#, is the same as BEG#, but in the Key of D instead of E. Looking at it from a different perspective... A CBG turns out to be a mighty neat tool for deconstructing a 6 string guitar. Learning to do more with less strings on a CBG, turns out to be a whole lot more, when you go back to 6 string.
