Food Security Bill: A wise decision or a colossal blunder. Implementation of Food Security Bill will be a major challenge for the present and the future governments. But I am compelled to think whether it is wise decision or a colossal blunder. On analyzing the situation and the ground realities, I think it will prove to be a colossal blunder because given the miserable condition of our corruption riddled governance affecting almost all welfare schemes including important mid day meal programme and the public distribution system, how on earth we are going to believe that food bill will ensure honest distribution of food to the poor. That is why people are forced to think that food security bill is nothing but a vote influencing programme. I strongly believe that India would have been definitely far better if such a large scale of public money would be invested in public infrastructure, education, healthcare and generating employment than distributing cheap insufficient food to large population. Only cheap food will not solve the problems of the poor unless a holistic approach is adopted to provide them with good living condition which includes infrastructure, employment, education and health care facilities. Empower them to lead a good productive life rather than making them dependent on free or subsidized miss conceived doles in a selfish pursuit to influence gullible voters.
