Food for the mind : In Yesterdays Chakra Workshop a question on Power of Prayer was asked.... I thought it is good to share with everyone. So here is my write up :) Often Prayer, Invocation and Blessing are thought to be one and the same but they are not!! for example When I want to download something in my mobile....but unable to do it due to some reason like ..no storage space or no battery or no connection or no coverage area.. then I ask someone from whom I can make it happen.. for me .That is Prayer. It is seeking help for oneself or others .. it surely works ..but intention and reason is important. otherwise even a terrorist would pray that his mission must succeed. Or that the enemy should fail! It is just an another form of wishing or desiring something. Real prayer is When I feel I need help and I ask for help for getting things done which I cannot do.. or overcome... that is prayer. It is RECEIVING!! But warning : It can become a addiction, and excuses for not doing things, or blaming God that my prayers arent answered. Remember God already knows what is best and the worst. (Praise is praying with no expectations but just feeling happy, secure by glorifying the divine qualities of the higher one or expression of thanks addressed to God, what you admire and adore so you become.) On the other hand believing in myself, that I can do and want to do... I invoke, the divinity into me, to charge me, empower me, to strength me, to do it myself, is Invocation. Here I am not calling some else to do my job, instead I now want to do it myself by making myself capable of it.It is UPLIFTING!! So Invocation is more empowering and healing then prayer. cos it is not only asking for things to be done, but to be done by oneself, so that one does not have to pray every time for help. Blessing is the Highest form of purification and empowerment as one who blesses is already at the highest! So the more one blesses others, the more divine will and love flow through him or her eventually cleansing empowering healing and uplifting the person who is blessing, no matter who is being blessed, allowing the divine will to work through me, being a divine channel, divine source. It is GIVING. In short :) Begging for food or things to happen is Prayer. Asking for strength to cook ones food or do things is Invocation. Feeding others or doing things for others is Blessing. Finally teaching others to cook food or empowering others to do things themselves is ENRICHING !!! If you have an intention to enrich others, empower others God will make sure that you are enriched and empowered first automatically and simultaneously. cos to give you should have. That is the law. That is the goal of Seva or Service. To put it in a more deeper sense: In Prayer God is different from me, higher then me. In Invocation I call God to descend into me.. to unite with me, raising myself to his level, God acts through me. In Blessing I am God, God is me, God and me are no different. I act from the state of Yoga, Oneness. that I am one with God. Which is Absolutely True :) As the famous quote: By helping others you are helping yourself in the first place. When you teach you really learn better! Yogacharini Komal
