Food for thought Psalm 147:14 (ERV) He brought peace to your country, so you have plenty of grain for food. Meditation Before Galileo claimed the world was round, the Bible stated of God, “It is the Lord who sits above the circle of the earth. And compared to him, people are like grasshoppers. He rolled open the skies like a piece of cloth. He stretched out the skies like a tent to sit under.” (Isaiah 40:22 ERV). Before Sir Isaac Newton figured out the gravitational forces between the moon and earth, Scripture said, “God stretched the northern sky over empty space. He hung the earth on nothing.” (Job 26:7 ERV). Before Marcus Vitruvius discovered the hydrologic water cycle, Solomon wrote, “All rivers flow again and again to the same place. They all flow to the sea, but the sea never becomes full.” (Ecclesiastes 1:7 ERV). All these natural facts were not “proven” to be scientifically true until centuries after they were first penned in the Bible. But true they always were—because God created them that way. The best way to bring peace to your neighborhood or your nation is to declare and stand behind the truths of His Word. It’s plenty to give anyone food for thought. Prayer Lord, I’m grateful for the reminder that the Bible is true, inspired of You, and worthy to be shared. Let Your wisdom and love bring peace to everyone I know. Amen.
