Food for thought……………. STANDING STILL & seeing the salvation of the LORD!!!! •Without consulting God, you will always make the wrong decision!!!! (KING JAMES BIBLE) II Chronicles chapter 20 V: 1- “It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.” •-We see moab (a nation of people), the children of ammon (another nation of people), and other coming against Jehoshaphat to battle. So not only does Jehoshaphat have two kinds of people coming against him but other (another kind of people) also. V: 2- “Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi.” •-So we see here that a warning of the war or storm or tribulation is being told to Jehoshaphat. Even the location of the great host (multitude). •We see that this was a great multitude coming against him. Now for these that came and warned him of this great multitude apparently, this great multitude had to out-number Jehoshaphat and his army. V: 3- “And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.” •- Now check out what Jehoshaphat did immediately when he got word of this great multitude that was coming up against him. Jehoshaphat set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed (declare) a fast throughout all Judah. Wow, look at this, so Jehoshaphat consulted God first. When he got word of his approaching tribulation, he sought God first!!!! He did not consult flesh (man), but instead he consulted the one who is able to change his situation. And not only that but he proclaimed a fast, not just for himself but with all of Judah. He didn’t panic and have self work (try to work it out through your own abilities), trying to figure out what to do or looking unto others. He instead put his TRUST and CONFIDENCE in the ALMIGHTY GOD. And everyone was on one accord. Ref: (s) Again you see someone else in the mist of tribulation, consulting GOD first and proclaiming a fast. Ref: (KING JAMES BIBLE) Ezra 8:21,23, “Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before out God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.” Joel 1:14, “Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord,” Jonah 3:1-10, “And the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying , Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days’ journey. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.” V: - 6, “And said, O Lord God of our father, art not thou God in heaven? And rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? And in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?” Ref: (s) Joshua 2:9-11, “And she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; an what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did they remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath. “ •Now here, Jehoshaphat speaks to God and reminds God of his awesomeness, his power, and his might.
