Food for thought by Awo... For the past 3 days, I have coincidentally been engaged in different discussions about the quality of human resources available to Entrepreneurs. The ratio of Fitness to Unsuitable is not encouraging, to say the least. The most challenging is the reality that most enterprises need Business Development personnel badly but there is a major dearth of willing hands. Some chief attitudes of employees that ultimately show them the exit door include: 1. Negative Energy: Entrepreneurs detest any limiting perspectives or beliefs. If an Employees default response to any task, vision or work is why it cannot be done, such is setting himself up for a sack. 2. Working to the Letter: Initiative is second to Passion in entrepreneurship. When an Employee only does what is instructed and is averse to taking risks of taking initiative for business advantage, you may be edged out pretty soon. 3. We all are Marketers: lets be real.. if we are not bringing in new businesses, what are we doing being in business? Every staff, from Owner to least Cadre, is first a Marketer before they are HR Manager or Head of Operations or even CEO. We all must synergise to keep the cash flow otherwise it is only fair to not demand timely payment of salaries or a pay raise. Abi? A Business Owner must protect his business by thinning out unproductive Staff... because Business is War... and there are no Sentiments or Apologies at the Warfront.
