Food for thought, towards self-empowerment Dikembe - TopicsExpress

Food for thought, towards self-empowerment Dikembe Disembe In my view, counties should construct their grain reserves. For Nyanza and Western especially, County governments should by now start inviting investors to construct flour mills and associated industries. This way, farmers are able to sell their produce to County Produce Boards which will act as grain reserves for the millers. The chain reaction will be that Atieno and Nekesa; Otieno and Wekesa; onyancha and chacha will get their jobs. We eat Ugali more, if anything. Hotels and supermarkets shouldnt be waiting for Jogoo, Pembe, Jembe, Soko etc from Nairobi/Kiambu. You realize every shilling spent on these weaken our collective purchasing power as western front. The age of any one region being a food basket or breadbasket is long gone. Once we can man them on in what we buy, we effectively reduce their pettiness amongst us. That means they will have to relook at their useless laws as the national social contract will now be about economic interactions, not political machinations. As it stands now, they think they are doing us favours. Thats why the have the guts to tell us when to post, what to post and about whom we cannot post anything. Thats why they bite us, and, even go as far as attempt to undress us. If they love ethnic nationalism, we must behave in such a way that our combined ethnic nationalism will be a force to reckon with in law, in commerce, in the arts, in the sciences, in curriculum, in religion and in politics.
