Football - Bundesliga Reports: Khedira set to snub Arsenal Arsenals hesitance over signing Sami Khedira could see them miss out on the Real Madrid midfielder as Bayern Munich have reportedly turned their attention to the Germany star. Khedira, whose contract expires next summer, is available for as little as £12 million after Real decided the World Cup winner was surplus to requirements. But earlier in the summer Arsenal were reluctant to match reported wage demands of £200,000 per week, leaving the former Stuttgart man in limbo. They have since rekindled their interest, but it could be too late. Eurosports offices in Spain and Germany have reported that Khedira is on the brink of making a remarkable return to his homeland - with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. Such a deal would make sense for Bayern, who lost defensive midfielder Javi Martinez to a knee injury; the Spain international will probably miss most of the season, and with Toni Kroos sold to Real Madrid, there is space in the midfield. Khedira is back in Germany, having been pictured watching his brother Rani playing for Leipzig. He had been omitted from Reals squad for the SuperCopa second leg at Atletico Madrid on Friday night, leading to speculation he was set to enter negotiations with a new club, with Arsenal the expected destination. But it seems he will enter negotiations with Bayern tomorrow, leaving Arsenal looking for a DM once more. OUR VIEW Whether or not they stump up the £200k per week he wanted from Arsenal, Khedira would prefer Bayern for obvious reasons. He would be pretty much guaranteed a first-team place, will challenge for the title if not win it at a canter, and would expect to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. He would also be going home at the perfect time, with Germany basking in the glow of their heroics in Brazil. It just goes to show that Arsenal remain hesitant when in the market for the less glamorous players they need. They strike while the iron is hot for attacking talent such as Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, but Arsene Wenger appears reluctant to push the boat out for defenders or midfield anchors. Khedira could already have been an Arsenal player had they given him what he wanted before Javi Martinez was crocked. Time is of the essence when dealing with big-name players. He is undoubtedly a world-class player, and he could have proved the missing piece of Wengers jigsaw. But, if Khedira does indeed complete his move to Munich, we will never truly know.
