Football has been in my blood from as far back as I can recall. - TopicsExpress

Football has been in my blood from as far back as I can recall. Often, while my cousins were playing dolls, I was outside with the boys playing football. God knew what he was doing when He gave me a mighty handsome football player as my husband. Then, I dreamed of having football players as sons and fortunately both of my boys have played football since they were 6 years old. The many many tireless nights of football practices and games in the scorching heat, pouring rain or freezing cold, the many trips all over Atlanta for games, the countless hours spent at CES and other agility training facilities, the many camps, the thousands of dollars spent, the pep rallies and team parties, the trophies, the millions of spirit wear shirts, the team mom, coaching and concession stand duties, the pains, concussions, broken bones, lost teeth, bruises and knee surgery, the excitement of the wins to the heartbreak of the losses. For each of these was well worth it to get to experience Adams being on the GFL champs team at 6 years of age and Ryans appearing in the 2010 Elite Eight state playoffs. What a ride filled with thrills and excitement it has been to have watched both of my boys playing a sport they, and I too, love. The life lessons, the heartache, the competition, the camaraderie, the friendships and the memories will be irreplaceable to my boys. Tonight, however , Adam will take the field for the last time at Mill Creek High School as a football player. There was a time after sustaining a horrendous concussion a few years ago that we thought his football career might be over, but he fought his way back against the adversity and apprehension. From the Warrior award he won at 6 years old, to the many nights of not wanting to go to practice, the tears and smiles, the touchdowns, interceptions and tackles, the fun, the joy and excitement, the sense of accomplishment and everything football will forever be cherished and remembered by this mama and her boys. NOW Adam, proudly don the maroon, navy and gold MCHS uniform one last time tonight on your home turf, enjoy every second, and have no regrets. Thanks to both of my boys for the memories and all of the happiness you two have brought this football - loving, cowbell-ringing, nail biting, nervous Nelly, loud and obnoxious mama over all these years. I will ALWAYS be your #1 fan! Now whatsoever will Craig and I do without football which has encompassed the last 16 years of our lives?
