Football rant: The Redskins shouldnt even THINK of going after a franchise quarterback this coming off-season. Yes, RGIII needs to go. (Im truly sad that didnt work out, but its time to turn the page). But trying to find the next RGIII is NOT what the Skins should do right now. They need to focus first and foremost on the OFFENSIVE LINE. They can have Peyton Manning at QB, and theyd still lose, because they have no pass protection. They should focus first on the offensive line. And then, secondarily, on their defensive backfield. Right now, it seems that they just randomly dress anyone in burgundy and gold every Sunday and tell them to protect against the pass. If theyre not doing that, they should, because theyd have just as much success and would save a boatload of money. For the next 1-2 seasons (or as long as it takes), the Redskins need to focus on the offensive line and the defensive backfield - and NOTHING ELSE! Once they get those positions taken care of, they can field a halfway respectable 8-8 or 9-7 team, even with Colt McCoy at QB (who, I think, will be much better and much more consistent once the Skins unload RGIII and Gruden names McCoy THE starting QB for the rest of this season as well as going into the next season). Down the road, they can try again for another franchise Hall of Fame type QB. Right now, we just need a team that can handle the basics (like blocking, pass coverage, tackling, etc.) and not embarrass their fan base practically every time they take the field. Okay, end of rant. :-) And, yes, at the end of the day, its just a game, and Im at peace in my heart even if the Skins go 2-14 every season. (As long as they beat Dallas those two games :-) ).
