Footnote Friday! Hebrews 2:14 - Since therefore the children have shared in blood and flesh, He also Himself in like manner partook of the same, that through death He might destroy him who has the might of death, that is, the devil, Footnote 1 - Referring to destroy. Or, bring to nought, make of none effect, do away with, abolish, annul, discard. After the devil, the serpent, seduced man into the fall, God promised that the seed of woman would come to bruise the head of the serpent (Gen. 3:15). In the fullness of the time the Son of God came to become flesh (John 1:14; Rom. 8:3) by being born of a virgin (Gal. 4:4), that He might destroy the devil in mans flesh through His death in the flesh on the cross. (See notes 141 in John 3, 311 in John 12, and 33 in Rom. 8.) This was to abolish Satan, to bring him to nought. Hallelujah, Satan has been abolished and done away with!
