For Alex W Ddumba my half-brother: Congratulations upon your graduation tomorrow! Bravo, my dear, because the sweet successful completion of your Bachelors Degree is an achievement that Daddy would have celebrated with pride. I commend you for bringing honour to the many years of school fees and tuition that he paid for you. Without a doubt, there would be different dancing troupes, drummers and singers at the great party her would have thrown in your honour. There would have been food, drink, great cheer and speeches. Similar to our father, you are a proud product of good old Makerere University. I know that while driving to your graduation ceremony, Daddy would have told you endless stories about the time in the 1970s when he was studying Medicine at the hill. He would have proudly driven his car past his alma mater residence of Livingstone Hall, as you drove out of the university campus at the end of the official ceremony of conferment of your degree. Daddy would have posed besides you and beamed with pride as you took many photographs to commemorate your graduation! Just before he died, you were hospitalised and underwent surgery to remove your troublesome appendix. I witnessed our father showering you with immense love as he oversaw the management of your restoration to health. I remember Daddy patiently sitting in the hospital-ward on a simple foldable metallic chair placed besides your bed, and watching over you as slept off the sedatives. Visitors came and went, but Daddy sat glued there - watching over you; waiting for you to regain consciousness. Our father loved you dearly, Alex. I know that he would have spared nothing to celebrate your achievement of the highest form of education in our country. And so, I celebrate your graduation Alex! Webale kusoma bro!
