For Anyone Who Still Needs Persuading… Here is a list of reasons you should get involved, if you havent decided yet. If you already feel sold on the project, feel free to skip this part. 1. YOU GET PUBLISHED! – A proper book, with a real, profitable opportunity to get your book out there and read by other people, whilst you retain complete creative control over your own work. 2. YOU GET WORK EXPERIENCE! –A commercial project like this gives insight into every step of the publication process, so we’ll gain valuable writers’ experience as well as business experience. 3. YOU GET MONEY! – This anthology will be on sale to the general public, and so every writer will get an equal slice of the royalties. Last year, the MA anthology pulled in about £1000 in sales. It can be done. 4. YOU GET RESPECT FROM AGENTS AND PUBLISHERS! – The average literary agent receives about a thousand requests for representation a year, from which she takes perhaps two or three new clients. Involvement or experience in this sort of project makes you much more attractive to publishers, who consider you a more reliable investment if, essentially, you’ve done it all before. Two current MAs are using their anthology credits to broker deals with agents right now. 5. YOU GET HAPPY TIMES! – I think this could be really fun. :) What more could you want people?! :)
