For Canadians looking at returning home, here are 3 items that might interest you: 1. A rep from the Canadian Medical Association sends its regards: I’m so happy to hear we have so many Canadian’s abroad and that we can reach out to those who plan to return and/or want to stay connected to Canada! CMA membership is valid all over the world and members actually have access to everything except MD Physician Services (unless they are on Canadian soil). Upon return or while visiting they can absolutely (we highly encourage it!) meet with their MD Advisor and plan a budget, do a net worth analysis or get some general advise/goal setting on their debt. This advice is 100% free, included with your membership but you have to be in Canada to access the advice part. To be a CMA member it is only $12 as a student abroad right now. I’ve attached the poster we normally use in Ireland but it is absolutely the same in Australia. Also attached is a 2 pager that describes some of the CMA benefits that you receive for only $12. The most used students benefits are highlighted on the poster. bit.ly/1nmpMgL bit.ly/1pcV3hz To sign up it’s very easy and done online here: cma.ca/joincma *Simply select the Medical student - studying abroad option and complete the rest *You will need to upload proof of enrollment at some point. I will be in touch in the future with more details on the program we hope to roll out to Australia. 2. Healthforce Ontario is offering individual advising and fantastic webinars on how to apply for residency in Canada as an IMG. Register here: healthforceontario.ca/en/Home/Physicians/Training_|_Practising_Outside_Ontario/Canadians_Studying_Abroad. 3. If youre interested in the more political side of returning to Canada, check out SOCASMA: socasma/. Its a lobbying group called the Society Of Canadians Studying Medicine Abroad.
