For Christmas Eve in our sock we have little Sweetpea. She came to us from a pound back in July. The photos hadn’t prepared us for how very tiny this little terrier mix was: she was a pocket-sized sweetheart, and as endearing in personality as she looked. Everyone who met her loved her. But nevertheless, someone had thrown her away. She went from her foster home quite quickly to live with a woman who loved her, but was unable because of mobility problems to cope with housetraining Sweetpea. When the placement broke down and Sweetpea came back to us, her foster space had been taken by another dog. So Zoe, one of our core team, stepped in as an emergency placement. But that didn’t last long either – for the second time Zoe became a failed fosterer and it took less than 24 hours. Sweetpea went to join Maggie (aka Scraggy), another MDR dog that Zoe had fallen for, and Zoe’s 4 other dogs, several cats, and human family at their farm. She has never looked back.
