For Grandparents Day.. GRANDMA AND GRANDPA Grandpa and Grandma were alone in the their home, They each had a rocker, and were content not to roam. Well, Grandma said, Grandpa do you remember the time, When we were so poor and didn’t have but a dime? And Grandpa he answered, that’s a fact I sure do, That’s the time we ate oatmeal, and called it a stew. No, we never complained no matter what, ‘Cause we both had each other, and that meant a lot. Yes, we raised us three boys, even though it was tough, And sometimes we went without, so they had enough, But now they’re all married and live right around here, Plus now we have grand kids that we love so dear. Ah, they can say what they like about this new generation, But the problem with kids are they’re all just so brazen, So let’s just stay where we’re at, for as long as we may, For you never know when the lord can take us home any day. Tomorrow said Grandma, I’ll to go through my old trunk, And assort out some things, and throw out some junk. Now that’s a splendid idea Grandpa replied with grin, Because the junk you take out is sure to go back in again. So remember my friend, it’s not the things that we own, but the love for each other that makes a good home, And no matter what, or what the people will say, Just as long as you’re happy, then leave things that way. ~Rose Oldford Pestrue ~
