For Greg Vella - the carbon TOW tape; First wrap is secured the same way as thread - but careful when you pull through the tags as the material can separate (thousands of thin 5cm threads!), then onto the first coat of epoxy - I tend to gently warm the first coat with a heat gun so it gets more fluid and penetrates the tape, allow to dry - it will look ugly and a quick sand with 800 grit wet n dry paper smooths the odd thread sticking out, and final coat of epoxy that gives the expected normal looking finish! Its extremely strong - takes ages to get off a rod as I have redone a few!
