"For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all - TopicsExpress

"For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods." ( Psalm 135:5) We all have those days when the car doesn’t start, or the refrigerator stops running, or perhaps a tremendous illness or accident occurs in our family. As we look at those things, it’s hard to keep our perspective in focus and our heads on straight. Remembering that God is great and that He will be there to help us is certainly our first line of defense in those times. “For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.” What powerful words! I encourage you to write out this verse and keep it handy. In fact, if you memorize it you’ll always have it with you to encourage you when difficult times arrive. If I believe that my God is great and that He’s not going to let anything happen in my life that He can’t control, then I can survive whatever problems come my way. I don’t have to deal with them; I can turn them over to Him. That doesn’t mean I can sit back and do nothing and expect Him to do all the work; nor does it give me permission to stay stuck in my anger, hurt, pain or bad attitude. No, I must do whatever it takes to be right before Him in every situation, but I can rest knowing that He’ll tend to all the details. He’ll meet the needs. He’ll give wisdom. He’ll provide finances and work opportunities. He’ll give strength. He’ll show me which way to go. He’ll open the right doors at the right time. Because He is great He can do all of these things, and I can rest in Him. As you face this day, I hope you’ll take the time to reflect on this little verse. Read it over and over and let its truth sink in. This simple passage contains a world of hope, and believing it brings the blessing of peace. Remember, God is great and God is good! Almighty God, Your faithfulness in tending to the details of my life astounds me. Help me to remember always the things you have already done for me and find hope and joy as I face each new day. Amen
