This year’s fair will take place at The Heights, 8001 Dale Avenue in Richmond Heights. Participants will have an opportunity to talk with representatives from area not-for-profit agencies to learn about their work and to learn about volunteer opportunities that are available. There will be a broad range of agencies participating, with volunteer positions for all ages, interests and abilities. “The CAP Volunteer Fair offers a unique opportunity for potential volunteers to meet with representatives from a range of social service agencies to find the best volunteer match,” said Roberta Gutwein, Co-Chair, along with Martha Scharff, of this year’s event. “Every year we are able to place a significant number of community members with agencies whose missions coincide with their passions.” CAP, a coalition of faith-based and civic organizations, was convened in 2008 by the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and is dedicated to addressing the issue of poverty through education, advocacy and service. The event is free and open to all. Those attending are asked to bring a donation of food to support area food pantries. Agencies participating this year include Bi-Lingual International Assistant Services, Casa de Salud, Center for Survivors of Torture and War Trauma, The Covering House, Doorways, Gateway Greening, Humanitri, Immigrant & Refugee Women’s Program, International Institute, Jewish Family and Children’s Service, Language Access Media Project (a Catholic Charities agency), Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, Let’s Start, Little Bit Foundation, Neighborhood Houses, Ready Readers, Safe Connections,, Saint Louis Crisis Nursery, Saint Louis Effort for AIDS, Saint Louis NORC, The Scholarship Foundation and Voices for Children.
