Attorney General Alan Wilson will discuss the need for new legislative tools for fighting human trafficking at a news conference on January 6. It also will mark the start of Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Detective Charlie Benton of the North Charleston Police Department will discuss how these new measures would enable law enforcement to take immediate action on this crime. Members of the state’s Human Trafficking Task Force, chaired by the Attorney General’s Office, will also be present. In addition, members of the General Assembly have also been invited to attend.
