For Immediate Release ` Contact: September 10, 2013 Gary Botzek 651-293-9295 Minnesota Conservation Federation elects new board officers for 2013-2014 John Brinkman of Lake City was elected president of the Minnesota Conservation Federation at its annual meeting on September 7 at Cabela’s in Owatonna. Brinkman, a retired school teacher, is president of the Lake City Sportsman’s Club and had been serving as the first vice president of the MCF. Joe Hoffman of St. Cloud was elected first vice president and Rylee Main of Minneapolis was elected treasurer. The 61st Annual Assembly passed six policy resolutions relating to state and federal issues. Bill Becker, staff director of the Lessard-Sams Council spoke to the assembly on Saturday regarding the successes of the first five funding years of the dedicated sales tax for conservation and habitat. The assembly also heard from executive director and MCF lobbyist Gary Botzek on the 2013 and 2014 legislative sessions and Jason Dinsmore of the National Wildlife Federation on issues ranging from the federal farm bill to the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. MCF is a state affiliate of the NWF. Both organizations have been working for conservation and environmental issues since 1936. For more information on the two organization go to their web at mncf.
