For Immediate Release Lake of the Woods “Pay It Forward” Event For Veterans is Set For This Weekend in Baudette, MN Baudette, MN (August 19, 2014) More than 45 injured veterans will be making their way up to The Walleye Capital of the World this weekend for a 3 night, 2 day fishing extravaganza. A joint effort between Lake of the Woods Tourism, Border View Lodge and Rainy River Resort, this event is a way to honor, celebrate and thank all who have served on behalf of our nation. With the assistance of both Fishing For Life and Midwest Outdoors Unlimited, veterans will be arriving Thursday afternoon. The activities begin that evening with a welcome dinner and entertainment. Two national comedy acts, Jason Cooper and Spark Mann will break the ice and entertain the crowd. Other celebrities participating in the event are Ron Schara, Tackle Terry Tuma, Jim Zumbo and former MN Viking, Benchwarmer Bob Lurtsema, Friday morning after breakfast, our guests will be boarding charter boats and fishing the famous waters of Lake of the Woods. There will be a shore lunch prepared by the VFW at Zippel Bay State Park, followed by more fishing. Friday evening all will head to the big tent on Main Avenue in Baudette for a traditional Walleye dinner and some island music by Bruce Neumann and Tiki D. Main street will be entertained with Floribbean music with a Twist of Lime. Saturday is another day of fishing for the Veterans. While our guests are catching walleyes, Baudette will be busy with a Farmers Market, Crazy Days, Kids Fishing Games, Bouncy Houses, and Beer Garden for all to enjoy. Saturday evenings dinner on Main Ave is called BBQ in Baudette. Delicious pulled pork with special seasonings and BBQ Sauce is the main course with all of the trimmings. Dinner is followed by The Groove Merchants, featuring Jimi Prime Time Smith, the 2014 MN Blues Performer of the Year. Friday nights dinner and music, as well as Saturdays events, dinner and the Groove Merchants are open to the public. Purchase tickets in advance or at the door. Friday night Walleye dinner, 5-7pm, $15. Bruce Neumann and Tiki D, 7pm - 10pm, complimentary. Saturday evening BBQ, 5-7pm includes the Groove Merchants, $20.
