For Immediate Release September 12, 2014 For more information, contact: Randi Woerner 856-845-1300 x143 or cell: 609-440-9464 Businesses: Keep Coming to Woodbury WOODBURY, NJ---Since August 13, 2014, the City of Woodbury has proudly welcomed four new business to the City, including the ground breaking for Patient First and the ribbon cuttings at DelBuono’s Italian Bakery, Studio 240 Salon and Higher Standards Performing Arts Preparatory. Excess Reinsurance is finally an official resident at their new office complex at 48 N. Broad Street, the former home of Masonic Lodge #87. The ribbon cutting for the new office will take place on Wednesday, September 17 starting at 4:00 pm. Excess Reinsurance was founded in 1989. Excess Re is one of the pioneers of the self-funded medical benefits industry and is one of the nation’s most successful and longest-standing managing general underwriters. The Woodbury office is the company’s headquarters, employing over 35 local residents. They also have regional offices near Minneapolis and Boston and do business worldwide. Mayor Volk states, “The City is so grateful to Brian Zidek, his family and his partners for saving one of our historic buildings and bring new life to the facility and the downtown. The interior of the office is beautiful and, the fact that they kept the exterior intact, preserving its historic ambiance on Broad Street, shows a great amount of respect for this City, its residents and our longstanding history in Gloucester County.” On Tuesday, September 23, 2014, [Being rescheduled from the original 9/11 date] Mayor and Council will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new shared offices of the Greater Woodbury Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Woodbury at 36 S. Broad Street. The ribbon cutting will include La Piazza DiScotto’s Restaurant, which is right next door at 40-42 S. Broad and recently under new management. Barry Coniglio, president of the Greater Woodbury Chamber’s board states, “We believe in Woodbury and it leaders and think it’s important to make our presence known as we support the downtown revitalization efforts. We think it is important for businesses, both potential and existing, to know there is a working Chamber who is able to partner with such organizations as Main Street Woodbury and City’s Economic Development office to help bring vibrancy to the City and additional assistance to businesses.” Volk adds, “I agree that it is important for our commerce organizations to be visible to our residents and business owners with an office on Broad Street. These organizations are making more than just a monetary investment in the City; they also make an investment of their volunteer time to bring feet on our streets. The City is glad to have such committed volunteer based organizations that believe in and are willing to invest in the City’s success.” In October, the City will continue its ribbon cutting ceremonies at Perry’s Clock Shop on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, housed within Woodbury’s Antique Center at 66 S. Broad starting at 4:30 pm. Then on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 Luke and Cade’s Toy Chest at 234 S. Broad Street will hold its ribbon cutting at 5:30 pm followed by the Wednesday, October 15, 2014 ribbon cutting at Seven Three Social Club Tattoo Shop at 238 S. Broad Street starting at 4:30 pm. Councilman Dave Trovato states, “By October 15th, Mayor and Council will have welcomed 9 new businesses to the City and through our Economic Development office we have helped to retain two additional businesses. In this economy, that is a lot to be proud of.” # # #
