For Immediate Release To Contact VeteranWarriors: YN1 Lauren Price USN, (Ret.) Founder and Public Affairs Representative VeteranWarriors 727.247.8141 Email: veteranwarriors@yahoo Website: veteranwarriors1/ Facebook: facebook/veteranwarriors1 Today, one of VeteranWarriors State Coordinators (North Florida) and Press Officer, Candy Lovett, attempted to attend the Secretary of VA’s press conference this afternoon at Malcom Randall VAMC (Gainesville, FL). Below is her statement of the events that took place when she tried to enter the building. (Ms. Lovett has full Press credentials, is a 100% disabled veteran and is one of our many State Coordinators.) “The VA Chief of Police Wayne E. Nesmith refused to let me in even with a press pass. And Cindy Snook from Media Affairs refused to approve me based on her saying I was coming in as an organization and not press.” This is the second incident in which a VAMC employee harassed, threatened or intimidated one of our State Coordinators in the last 30 days. Our organization’s volunteers are always polite, respectful and follow the laws and policies in place wherever they go. The VA continues its pattern of conduct wherein employees believe they have the right to set policy at will, threaten and intimidate veterans to force their own edicts upon them and to violate the most basic tenants of human decency. Our organization will no longer sit quietly while such behavior is allowed to continue. This is not the first case of such tactics being used by VA employees against veterans. The use of VA police officers to intimidate veterans will no longer be tolerated. VeteranWarriors has formally requested that our Congressional leaders send a DEMAND to the SECVA, to create directive to the VA employees to CEASE AND DESIST using such tactics against our veterans.
