For Jory Schulman When my mother died, my first reaction was the finality of it. I would never get to call my mom again. But something peculiar happened in the next few weeks- she called ME...in a dream. Three times in fact. They were insanely vivid, and we had long, if not slightly melancholy chats. Those really stuck with me. Over the years I began to realize that so much of her is still around, and she fusses at me when I neglect the things I should be doing, and is proud when I have victories. And I think of her dopey moments, and she is positively hanging around during Christmas. I am not a spiritual person, but she is truly alive inside me, and Im glad.
