For : Public OF COURSE IN THE UK I created this paper to facilitate my friends who wanted to take a school in the UK, both the level undergraduate / undergraduate, graduate / masters, and doctoral. A few years ago, Ive been helped by many friends and sister force that answers my confusion. As a form of pay it forward, I try to summarize the information I have to share to all my friends in need. About the UK The official name of the country is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. There are four states in which small, ie England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. England capital London, Scotland capital Edinburgh, the capital Cardiff Wales, while Northern Ireland had its capital in Belfast. Meanwhile, the Republic of Ireland are not included in this combination. You can not get into the Republic of Ireland with a British visa. Great Britain, or the United Kingdom, referring to the size of the island of Britain, which consists of a kingdom (kingdom) England, kingdom of Scotland, and the principalities of Wales. People sometimes refer to Britain to shorten, although historically, the name Britannia is actually used to refer to England and Wales only. While the United Kingdom is Great Britain plus Northern Ireland but (Northern Ireland itself was the same on the big island with the Republic of Ireland). At times, this country go down as one entity such as Great Britain at the Olympics last. But there are times when mutual fight between England, Scotland, and Wales, as for example in the European Cup or the World Cup. So, do not be confused between England, Great Britain, and the United Kingdom yes. Well, instead I wrote The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland long, in this paper I shall call the UK for more convenience. According to data from the Embassy in London, most of the students / Indonesian students in the UK gathered in the cities of Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle. In London alone quite a lot of Indonesian people, but most are not student / student. Cities like Manchester, Birmingham, and Nottingham is still the favorite. While most of the subjects studied business / management (including economics, finance, accounting). The oldest university in the UK is Oxford (stand 1096) which was founded by a bunch of scholars who were expelled from the University of Paris. Do not worry about the quality of the universities in the UK because everything is managed and closely monitored by the government. S2 (Masters Degree) in English In general, a masters program in the UK is divided into two, namely the taught program and a research program. Taught program is diverse, ranging from PGCert, PGDip, MA, MSc, LLM and MBA. While the research program include MPhil and MRes. PGCert (Postgraduate Certificate) is equivalent to the level of the final year bachelors degree with honors, but still below the postgraduate course. While PGDip (Postgraduate Diploma) is usually given to those who have already completed the course units for the master level, but has not written a dissertation (final task). Duration PGCert and PGDip usually around 9 months. MA (Master of Arts) and MSc (Master of Science) is a masters level of education, consisting of classes (lectures), exam (exam), and research (dissertation). Both can be reached within 1 year (full-time). Likewise, the LLM (Master of Law), but LLM focus on areas of law. While the MBA (Master of Business Administration) is a master of the field of business education, the study duration ranged from 18-24 months. They did not write a dissertation, but more like a final report or consulting project. (Oh yes, in the UK called the master final project dissertation, while the final project is called doctoral thesis.) MPhil (Master of Philosophy) commonly referred to as the senior master or second master, which is between the master and PhD level. While MRes (Master of Research) is like a Master of Science by Research. Usually they will take doctoral studies, will be listed first as a student of MPhil or MRes, will be tested prior to upgrading towards a PhD. To my knowledge, most of Indonesian students in the UK take MA or MSc level studies. Usually the masters program in the UK is held in a small class (less than 30 people) to maximize the interaction of faculty / student and multiply discussion / sharing. If you take a study in the UK, a title given not fitted with such a score GPA (or GPA), but with the category Fail, Pass, Pass with Merit or Pass with Distinction. To be accepted in the masters program in the UK is relatively difficult to be honest. Most universities provide online form contains a variety of questions that you must fill in the complete (usually free). You will also be asked to write a letter of motivation that explains who you are, why you choose a department / school, what you plan ahead, and so on. You also need to send a reference, can be from a former lecturer in S1 you or your boss (when it works). In addition, you also need to submit proof of your educational certificates and transcripts before and IELTS scores are no more than 2 years. The minimum scores ranged 6.5-7.0 for the areas of science / engineering and 7.0-7.5 for humanities / business / law.
