For Stopping Market Construction Contract NORTHCOT SP, GOV SUSPENDS MIDSAYAP MAYOR, VICE MAYOR by Arianne Apatan, ABS-CBN News Central Mindanao NORTH COTABATO - The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of North Cotabato has issued a 30-day suspension order on Midsayap Mayor Romeo Arana and Vice-Mayor Abeth Garduque following an administrative case filed by a construction company. The order was released Tuesday and the officials temporarily vacated their positions a day after. According to North Cotabato Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Joemar Cerebo, the administrative case has something to do with the construction of the public market in Midsayap. Araña and Garduque allegedly stopped the project after receiving information that Marcos Construction is not qualified for it. However, the construction company said it is the legitimate contractor of the project after winning the bidding held during former Midsayap Mayor Manuel Rabaras term. The order also passed through the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Office of the Governor. Ayon sa batas, sa mga ganitong kaso, mag-aact as mayor yung first councilor and vice-mayor yung second councilor, said Cerebo. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan will investigate the case.
