For TBT my Pa, Roy Grady Ratliff Oct 24, 1920 - Oct 7, 2014 He would have been 94 in a couple weeks. Pa always worked hard and provided for his family. He and my Granny, Pauline Ratliff (Polly) raised two children during the depression. My mother Peggy and my Uncle Bill. He helped raise me for a little while too. I was the first and only grandchild for about 9 years so I was spoiled. When my parents divorced I was 4 and my mom and I went to live close to Granny & Pa in McColl, South Carolina until she remarried when I was 6. Those are the years of my childhood that are my most cherished. (I usually got whatever I wanted so of course I cherished that time!) but I was well loved and I felt it. With fondness I remember Pa... Taking me everywhere with him in the car, introducing me to everyone he knew...and there were many! Delivering the Charlotte Observer on a rural route every Sunday, (lots of miles!) going to funerals, getting banana ice cream and always, he had a pack of Juicy Fruit Gum in his shirt pocket. Hed send me to the store a block away with a 6 pack of empty Mountain Dew bottles and $ to get more because I loved the stuff. He loaned me $ for a car once and whenever we talked on the phone he always wanted to know what kind of work I was doing and what kind of car I was driving. Thank you for all the love. You are irreplaceable. Rest in Peace Pa.
