For TONIGHTs Investor Reception event in support of restoring the Erie Canal Village: sharing some slightly dated (May 2014), but, still very helpful $$ projections from Edwin R Williams, the event organizer -- he posted this info over on the Vic-Fair (Rome, NY) FB page. Looks like you can contact him directly, too, if you want to help. Heres the post -- remember, its from May & while some of the info may not apply, it provides perspective on what it would take to get the job done:) Thanks for helping to make this happen, Mr. Williams! Last week Mr. Prince sent me with a contractor to the Erie Canal Village to survey the damage. According to the contractor it will take at least $2 million to get the property to the point it was 5 years ago. This means saving the Crosby house before it collapses, restoring the Shull house, building a new Packet Boat, and repairing the rest of the buildings so that the Rome Codes Department will remove the yellow tags. Also included is the complete rewiring and re-plumbing of the entire property. We should have the complete estimate by Monday, but so far just those repairs plus the purchase price puts it well over the project’s budget. In order to make this work I’m looking for volunteers with time, talent and tools to help save the village. If I can cut the cost of restoration in half by using volunteers, we can save ECV and reopen it to the public. If you’re interested in helping, please contact me at edwinrwilliams@hotmail
