For Veterans Day, we are reaching out for public support for our advocacy to obtain an honorary Presidential promotion for the legendary Buffalo Soldier/Diplomat Colonel Charles Young. We are calling on President Obama to promote Colonel Young to the rank of Brigadier General in the United States Army for Black History Month 2014. As the highest ranking Black Officer in the United States Armed Forces during the early 1900s, the first Black Superintendent in the National Park System and the first Black Military Attache to a foreign government, his entitlement for the honor sought is well documented. (Attached is our Petition/Flyer.) Our goal is to send 500,000 copies of the Petition to the White House by February 2014. We would appreciate your support in helping us achieve the goal. In conjunction with our Petition Campaign efforts are underway to erect a monument in Washington, DC honoring the Colonel and recognizing the honor of service and longevity of Black servicemen and servicewomen in the defense of our nation. No such monument of recognition currently exist in our nations capitol. The deeds of our past are the foundation of our future, Lest We Forget. Happy Veterans Day Respectfully, Charles Blatcher, III Chairman, National Coalition of Black Veteran Organizations
