For Virginia Allain...I kept this copy of my tribute to you. Thought you might like to have it. In Appreciation of Virginia Allain This lens is in appreciation of Virginia Allain, Squidoo writer, eHow writer, Amazon Reviewer, Family Memoir author, who unselfishly shares her writing expertise with others. I first came to know Virginia when I began writing online at eHow. Although I had written feature stories for a newspaper, I knew nothing about writing online, and especially the correct way to write for eHow. After my very first article, I got a private message from Virginia giving me suggestions to make my article better. She contributed greatly to my eventual success with the site, and I began to regard her as my mentor. She has given me two lenses, one made especially for me, when I first began on Squidoo. She was doing her best to get me moving...but I dragged my feet for several more months. Virginia is a strong, courageous person who has always encouraged me to find a way around obstacles. For instance, now that eHow has shut down its Writer Compensation Program completely, I’ve found I’m not mourning over it. I’m moving on, as she says “to greener pastures to roam.” There was a time when I might not have done that, had it not been for the attitude of cheerfulness and optimism she has consistently displayed in our conversations. Virginia has helped me to believe in myself and encouraged me to keep working, no matter what. She is not a person to jump to conclusions, but steps back and analyzes each situation. Because of this, I have learned to take a closer look as well, before making a decision. I appreciate her kindness, not just to me, but to everyone she deals with. She does not always make a habit of trading favor for favor, like some in the writing field. Instead she generously gives of her time and talent to many people, often receiving nothing in return but the satisfaction of knowing she did the right thing. One of the things I believe is that Virginia’s mother sure raised her right, because she has all the attributes one could want in a daughter. I’m so glad to be able to call her “friend.” Thanks for all you do, Virginia. An addendum today, 8/19/2014: Without the attitude you passed on to me, I dont think I could have gotten through the recent turmoil without having known that experience. In turn, that encouragement and help, has been passed on through me, to others, which is probably the biggest compliment one person can pay to another. Thank you again my friend.
