For a 40-50km alpine cross country tour I am really not taking a lot of equipment. I want to have fun and make a strong athletic performance. I do NOT want a big backpack and I am certainly not wearing heavy warm clothing I can tell you. The terrain is sometimes steep and only intermittant cell phone signal. Usually not more than 3 hours to some kind of settlement. But weather can be dramatic and 3 can easily become 7-8 at times. I know the area quite well. There are some hay ricks and other semi enclosed shelters around. What do you think is in my backpack?
