For a Cardio challenge a certain amount of intensity is required. A good gauge is the Rate of Perceived Exertion [ RPE ], a 1 to 10 scale of how hard you think you are working . For eg channel surfing with the remote is 1 , and 2 would be getting up to make a sandwich . A 10 would be maximum capacity --- racing to beat Usain Bolt . If you want to make a workout really count your RPE has to fall between 5 and 8 ie you need to be working hard enough that you;re breathing hard , but not gasping and collapsing .
