For a decade, maybe longer, many of us have worked together and in different shifts to bring dignity to the people buried under the numbered grave markers at Potters Fields. A majority of those laid to rest with a number as their marker resided in institutions such as the Delaware Psychiatric Hospital, Delaware Home for the Chronically Ill and Stockley Center. Others were homeless and/or impoverished. The numbers are representative of how so many people with disabilities were treated. Under Secretary Landgrafs leadership, we are pleased that tomorrow will be the dedication of this beautiful monument, bringing a beautiful outcome to one of the goals of the Delaware Developmental Disabilities Council and other advocates. Dedications of the new memorials at DHCI and Stockley will follow on 11/6 and 11/17.
