For a leftist Ive never been a big union guy. At one point they had a place and gave us safe working conditions and the adaption of a 40 hour work week. Today with state and federal regulations, and with how corrupt they are, unions have far outlived usefulness. However I found myself an exception today as the only thing more corrupt and hypocritical then a union is the NCAA committee. Northwestern made 235 million dollars off of its football program from 2003-2012. 76 million was left after expenses were paid. These student athletes saw none of that and yet are made to participate in 50 hour work weeks and cannot hold a job due to the rigorous demands of playing a sport. As difficult as it is for me to say I support the unionizing of the players and think every player should get a base salary, instead of just the universities reaping the benefits of the program while putting no risk at their feet #standwiththeathletes
