For a little over a week now, just outside my store at the Edison - TopicsExpress

For a little over a week now, just outside my store at the Edison Mall, there has been a booth set up for people to go to if they need help with free enrollment signing up for Obamacare. I have watched families walk away happy, a mother shed tears after finding out she would be getting health insurance for the first time in her entire life, & dozens of people have their questions answered. What is upsetting, is that I have witnessed an unbelievable amount of ignorance, racism, & harassment to the employees of this booth who work 12 hour shifts. These include: Hey why do you think its okay to help become a socialist nation!? Hey are you having fun handing out healthcare to black people? Obama is a muslim! Why would you want him in charge of our health!? (Yes. Really.) I dont love Obama & this isnt a pro-Obama post. This post is to shed light on several issues: 1. Racism still exists. To an extreme, inappropriate degree. 2. It is not okay to harass people who want healthcare. 3. It is not okay to harass employees just because you dont like the politics of a situation. 4. We need to stop being afraid of change. We dont all need to agree or even all want universal health care, but I urge you to consider if yo are simply afraid of change or not. 5. If you dont know what youre talking about- try not to shout it in a packed mall. I urge you to allow to holiday spirit to bring out the best in you. Not the worst. Cheers.
